Median and Mode (Odd Number of Values)

POINT

For an odd number of data values, sort them in ascending order and choose the single middle value as the median. The mode is the value that occurs most often.

EXAMPLE

Find the median and mode of the following data.

8, 2, 1, 4, 6, 2, 5, 8, 2

1, 2, 2, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 8

① Median = 4

② Mode = 2
